The Polling and Visualization Specialist will support critical polling and reporting work that helps inform and drive the Federation's Joint Mobilization program in 2022. This position will help coordinate a national polling plan for 2022, as well as support ongoing polling and research projects inside of the analytics team. It will also help build and support reporting dashboards for the 2022 political program, organizing work, and other organizational infrastructure needs.

The Data, Analytics & Infrastructure Resource Department's goal is to generate lasting power for the labor movement, by building the Federation's programmatic tools, web development, data systems, and analytics capacity. This team serves a broad range of clients across the labor movement--from other AFL-CIO departments to AFL-CIO affiliates, and state and local labor bodies. Through investment in central infrastructure, training, and direct service work, the department aims to empower its partners to run stronger and more cost-effective political and legislative mobilization, digital, and organizing campaigns.

Remote/Washington, DC (HQ)

This is a temporary position not to exceed November 30, 2022.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
● Support the AFL-CIO's national polling plan for the 2022 cycle, as well as ongoing research projects of the Federation
● Generate polling samples, toplines, and crosstabs
● Produce written deliverables, including topline summaries and slide decks
● Analyze polling data for campaign strategy
● Assist with survey instrument development and research project management
● Produce and maintain reporting dashboards for political and organizational priorities
● Assist with maintaining the data pipelines underlying reporting dashboards
● Produce quantitative visualizations for slide decks and other products as needed
● Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
● College degree in related field or equivalent experience.
● Academic coursework in college-level statistics preferred
● Demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel
● Demonstrated experience with SQL, R, or Python, or similar coding language
● Demonstrated experience with Tableau or another dashboard reporting tool
● Demonstrated experience with communication via data analysis (using Excel, Access, SQL, etc.).
● Experience using LAN or VAN is a plus
● Effective time management skills, including demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
● Demonstrated interest in progressive causes – including experience with political campaign(s), government or public interest groups.
● Knowledge of the labor movement is a plus
● Ability to work long and extended hours as needed.

Starting annual salary: $86,284
