Senior Tech Support Specialist - Network AdminEmail and Deployment Systems

The Information Technology Department provides technology and telecommunications services to all AFL-CIO departments and staff in an effort to facilitate the goals and objectives of the Federation. In addition, the Information Technology Department provides technical leadership to Affiliated Unions, State Federations, Central Labor Councils and other constituency groups.
The Network Admin Email & Deployment Systems works under the supervision of the Manager of Office Automation, Networking and Electronic Communications.
Program Development and Implementation
• Manage and maintain email system(s) (currently 500 user/800 email account Microsoft Exchange 2010) and experienced in a load-balanced hybrid physical/virtual server, VMware DAG, utilizing a Network Appliance storage network.
• Provide second level and advanced support of email products and configuration including personal contact, calendar shares across desktop and mobile environments.
• Enforce account policy making efficient use of CALs.
• Manage patch management, evaluate patches, and ensure the patching of systems that cannot be automatically patched.
• Manage user access, account creation and security. Review user and group accounts and for proper levels of access. Ensure that systems are secure, passwords changed and accounts disable/deleted when users leave or change responsibilities.
• Monitor mailbox databases for growth and trends.
• Ability to configure and deploy applications and desktop images via GPO, SCCM/OM, WDT

• Keeps the Network Engineer and Manager of Office Automation, Networking and Electronic Communications fully informed on a regular basis on issues affecting departmental systems.
• Prepares and submits regular and ad hoc reports, especially on security status, on departmental activities as required.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
• Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer/Exchange or similar credentials. Security credentials a plus.SCCM certification a plus.
• Two years demonstrated experience in Microsoft Exchange 2010, software and hardware integration and troubleshooting and security.
• 2-3 years experience with network and systems monitoring tools
• 2-3 years experience with VMware and Storage Area Network.
• Five years experience with multiple desktop products including software and hardware.
• Five years experience with administering a medium to large scale Exchange environment
• Network Management software experience.
• Server (physical/virtual) configuration experience or training.
• Internet and TCP/IP configuration and troubleshooting experience.
• Demonstrated experience in documenting Systems configurations and procedures as well as preparing written instructions for internal users.
• Microsoft Windows Deployment Toolkit experience a plus.
• Microsoft System Center/Configuration Manager (Operations Manager) experience a plus.
• Microsoft Windows Group Policy Administration experience a plus.
• Ability to communicate with outside vendors, consultants and internal users to quickly diagnose and solve PC problems.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of users on a professional level.
• Ability to analyze problems and develop timely solutions.
• Ability to provide input for strategic planning.
• Ability to work well as a member of a team.
• Demonstrated communications skills, oral and written.
• Ability to work extended or irregular hours as needed.
