Lead Data Coordinator - Southern Region

The Lead Data Coordinator will oversee and coordinate the Labor Action Network (LAN) and other campaign technology in assigned Southern states. When support is needed, assists in the southern region as assigned. The Lead Data Coordinator will work with the National AFL-CIO, state affiliates and in-state federation bodies to assist in LAN and other data analysis needs.

Temporary fund position not to exceed March 31, 2018.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

• Coordinate the day to day operation of the Labor Action Network in the state(s).
• Monitor usage of the LAN in-state and make sure all activities conform to the AFL-CIO Executive Policy on membership list security and the Affiliate's membership list policies.
• Coordinate and prepare product from the LAN, including: accountability reports; data analysis, exports for walk, phone, mailing and volunteer activation coordination.
• Conduct supplemental training and technical support to national AFL-CIO staff within state, in-state State Federations and in-state Labor Councils and assist orientation of assigned released staff on in-state processes for utilization of the LAN and other data tools who are approved users on the LAN system.
• Work collaboratively with national AFL-CIO staff and state and local federation body staff to provide input to improve new LAN training materials.
• Work with national AFL-CIO in-state affiliates and state federation bodies to develop strategies on how to best integrate the LAN system into their own political/issues program.
• Think creatively on how to improve and suggest development and implementation (at the state level) of the national AFL-CIO's data & online tools.
• Work collaboratively with national AFL-CIO management and colleagues to execute improvements.
• Lead released staff assigned in the states to support campaign technology and data collection.
• Lead and coordinate the usage of other campaign technology in the state(s) and train in- state AFL-CIO, State Federation, Labor Council and on its' usage as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 2 years of field or targeting experience.
• Experience developing, designing and creating databases.
• Demonstrated experience with CSV and Access databases and Excel spreadsheets.
• Demonstrated and extensive experience in electoral political and issue campaigns, particularly focused on data coordination and management.
• Knowledge of and experience with both national and local structures of the labor movement.
• Experience with the labor movement preferred and knowledge of the labor political program preferred.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating a component of a political campaign.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
• Demonstrated experience working successfully in politically sensitive and high-pressure
environments.
• Excellent listening, interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills.
• Demonstrate ability to work effectively in teams, in both a lead and support role.
• Effective time management skills, including demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
• Ability to work long and extended hours as needed.
• Ability to travel for long and extended periods.
