Junior Video Producer

The AFL-CIO is seeking a driven, resourceful and highly skilled Jr. Video Producer to join our Video Production team within our Digital Strategies department in Washington, DC. Ideal candidate must be able to conceive and quickly execute compelling, shareable short-form video for social media. You will take lead on creating all rapid response videos, shooting officer messages, and shooting, editing, and streaming for live events.

Will manage and curate the YouTube page, leveraging YouTube's ever-changing annotations and other capabilities. Must be a live-streaming wizard using YouTube Live.

Must have an interest in media, understanding of political machinery, and be able to identify elements with viral potential. Know, love and be one with your camera/lighting/editing gear and tools. Be able to translate complex topics into easy-to-understand visuals and narratives for video.

This position requires extensive interdepartmental communication; therefore interpersonal skills, managing up, down, laterally, and full collaboration are as essential as your technical expertise, storytelling and creativity. We're looking for a person with a positive, curious, imaginative disposition. Experience with the labor movement and progressive politics will serve you well.
On location, live events, staged set-ups, and studio interviews are all part of the gig. Bonus skills are Keynote/PPT, graphic design, and animation/motion graphics. Addictions to Upworthy, YouTube, Vimeo and Vine are an asset. Travel is a must.
