The AFL-CIO is looking for a talented strategist and manager to join our digital strategy team.
We're building an innovative and effective digital team and looking for creative and strategic thinkers interested in being an integral part of our communications, organizing and political programs.

The Digital Campaigns and Strategy Manager will be responsible for directing and managing the team responsible for email, SMS and other digital strategy for AFL-CIO campaigns at the national, state and local level. Responsibilities:

● Managing a team that executes on digital strategy and content for multiple major campaigns, including electoral, legislative, advocacy, and union organizing campaigns.
● Directing and managing the research, writing, and editing of dynamic and effective online content across channels, including email, SMS, video and other digital tools for these campaigns.
● Overseeing all of the team's work in platforms such as Action Network and Mobile Commons.
● Working closely with AFL-CIO departments and affiliates on crafting campaign and action plans with a strong and strategic digital component.
● Collaborating with the Digital Strategies, Political and Campaigns teams to more fully integrate online and offline activism. This means thinking creatively about everything from online asks for offline actions to envisioning what the platonic ideal of data integration could be -- and helping achieve that.
● Crafting and directing our digital training program to train national, state and local organizations on online organizing, best practices and tools.
● Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

● Minimum of three to four years of proven experience designing, executing and tracking successful email programs.
● Strong editorial judgment and editing ability. You should be able to quickly edit staff's work to create copy with an authentic voice that resonates with our audiences.
● Strong background in, or strong familiarity with the labor movement, movements for progressive social change and political or issue campaigns.
● Experience with online organizing and innovative ideas for how to use digital strategies to win local and national campaigns.
● Extensive experience managing staff.
● Comfortable with interactions with senior staff and strong communications skills in challenging situations
● Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and think of creative ideas for mobilizing members and integrating online and offline activism.
● Experience with Constituent Relationship Management systems (i.e. Salsa, Action Network, Blue State Digital).
● Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, Photoshop and PHP a plus.
● Excellent time-management and organizational skills, and must be able to multitask and prioritize.
● Demonstrated experience in developing campaign and personal work plan and goals.
● Commitment to editorial excellence.
● Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
● Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work well with internal and external staff at all levels.
● Demonstrated ability to be adaptable quickly to meet project needs.
● Demonstrated ability to work independently within the context of a plan.
● Excellent communication skills.
● Ability to work long and extended hours when needed.
● Some travel may be required.
● Must provide writing samples of digital content.
